| Home Decor: Challenges of Decorating! |

Decorating is an art form that many people feel they are not qualified to tackle on their own, this is why many people hire interior decorators or rely on what home decorating magazines tell them is the latest trend in home fashion. This means that there are many homes with the same style, theme and look. Dozens of homes are decorated with the latest Martha Stewart living collection or any other number of decorating themes that are popular. In actuality home decor should be a reflection of the occupant’s personal tastes, a reflection of the people living in the home.
Individuals are quite capable of decorating their own houses! All a person needs is to have an idea of their own personal style, and then take that style and turn it into home decorating magic. There are several ways to find out what your own personal style is; first you could look at the items you currently have decorating your home and this will give you an idea of your own personal style. Second if you did not pick out many of the items that are currently in your home them go through the house and pick out the items that scream this is what I like, this is my taste. Third if looking through your house is not enough inspiration them look through home decorating magazines, websites, or store websites to get an idea of what style is perfect to decorate your home. Lastly it’s a good idea to visit some local furniture stores to get a feel for what kind of furnishings you would like to decorate your home.
Once you have an idea of how you would like to decorate your house it is time to start shopping for the right decorations, nick-knacks, furnisher, and other items that will turn your house into a uniquely beautiful home. A good place to start shopping for your home décor is online! This way you can look at thousands of items, which will enable you to get just the right decorations for your personal taste and style.
If on the other hand you are married or living with others and the desired outcome is an incorporated design of all your tastes and styles. Well, this makes decorating more of a challenge, not impossible but a challenge! The first step is much the same for decorating a single person’s home or for multiple people. Find out what every ones personal style is by having them pick out a few items from their own personal collection of stuff or from a store site. Once every one has picked out a few items which they like, that represent their own design style, then the goal now is to combine the items to make a collected group style. Not all of a person’s style will be represented in the finished home décor, the best way to make a unique beautiful home is to pick and choose the items that match and look good together. The design theme could be based on color, or items theme like Africa, monkeys, and/or tropical, or on design theme like modern, art deco, rustic cottage, and/or classical. Having a theme is a great way to combined many people’s styles into one home decorating idea. Once a theme is mutually agreed upon it is time to let loose the decorator within and start decorating!
Home decorating can be a daunting task! From find your own personal style, to finding items that match that style, or to agree on a style that fits every person in the house. But once you have found your own personal style or a style that fits multiple people, it’s amazing what you will be able to find to decorate your house, to make it into a reflection of all the people living in the home. It fun and challenging to make your house into a beautiful, uniquely decorated home!
