Distance learning has practically become possible for anyone who has a computer and internet connection. More and more people are accessing distance learning information thanks to the far outreaching power of the internet. People in remote areas now have the opportunity to obtain quality education thanks to the internet.

Some online colleges are bogus and your inability to know the fake from the good ones can land you in hot water. Be careful not to trust any online distance offer that looks too good to be true. Online distance programs that offer you an education in the shortest amount of time should also not be trusted.

So you can’t be in two places at the same time – at work and in school – so what? You can take your accounting course online by distance education in any school of your choice. Most colleges offer distance learning partly because of the ease of conveyance of correspondence, and partly because it does help to generate revenue at little or no expense. Mostly though, it is so as to be able to help all those teeming multitudes who find it difficult to actually be in school, but need to get their diplomas.

Many have stipulated that the success of Charles Wedemeyer’s Articulated Instructional Media from 1964-1968 is what impressed the British to begin the UK Open University. They imported their ideas from the communications technology that Wedemeyer introduced, and used them to create the college, which is now called United Kingdom Open University (UKOU). Naturally today, there are many other colleges with the same name, but the prefix ‘UK’ distinguishes this one.

Synchronous technology helps to propagate concurrent education at different places but at the same time. The flip side is asynchronous technology, which offers the same services, but with the added convenience of students receiving information at different times. Both approaches are used extensively in distance education.

The sheer volume and limited time frame attached to distance learning tasks by various professors are openly unfriendly. This is to help the charges realize that their degrees are coming at no cheap prices. They have to read up hard and fast if they hope to get very far with their quests for grades.

You surely need for your distance learning institution to be accredited. Accreditation is vital because without it, it would be hard to distinguish the wolves and the sheep of distance learning, so to speak. You have more confidence once you know that a particular distance learning institution and program has been accredited. Accreditation ensures that quality education has a recognizable seal.

Printing has been around for eons, and there was a time when for distance learning, you as a lecturer simply had to print you notes and send them to your students anywhere they were. This time, you only have to type them out; then you can send them via email to anyone anywhere, and they would receive them. It costs less, and is faster – a lot faster.
