Chores - If your a bit strapped for cash this year, you can still show your loved one how much you love them. Especially in the current financial situation when lots of people are struggling with money, this option could be the perfect alternative to spending money on overpriced gifts that will either be gone within a couple of days or sit collecting dust on the shelf for the next year. Why not take on some of their chores for the day, or even for the week! So that your partner can relax for a while, why not tell them you will do all the cooking for the next few days or will tidy up for the next week. Although, of course, you need to actually do what you say you will! There is no point promising to help out and do the cooking all week and then failing to do any of it.
